This area of the apartment would have been the bedrooms originally.  This room has a stone and wood floor with a woven pattern created by alternating long and short planks of wood to make it appear to "weave".  In French, this floor is called "dallage a l'ancien".  The walls are a painted-on damask pattern.  The wainscot was added and was done in a faux bois.  The leather chair is a find from the marche aux puces and dates to about the 1920's.  The sofas are new with clean, contemporary lines and covered in a Nobilis woven.  Above the sofa is an oil by the owners' mother, which has a portrait of her daughter's English bulldog. The window treatments are a luxurious, aged-looking, velvet paisley from Lelievre.  The original wrought iron window railings are just visible beyond.  The barley twist chairs are 19th century antiques with their original tapestry.  The table is also an antique.  Above the table hangs a landscape done in pastels, also by the owners' mother.  Also in the room, but not visible, are custom designed, stained-glass windows made in Paris that complement the room's color scheme.
